Congrats to the "Pride" Marching Band for sweeping Class AAA honors and claiming the Grand Championship of the 2013 Lightning Tournament of Bands Championship! We are so proud of the Pride and their outstanding performance on the evening of October 11th. Competing against 12 other state bands, the Pride placed first in 8 of 9 categories and its margin of victory over the second place band was 5 points! Mr. Lopez and the staff are so proud and pleased with how the band has prepared for the competitive season, especially with all the changes in rehearsal schedules due to this years rain problems.! Pride parents, alumni and fans are strongly encouraged to attend the Night of Pride on Friday October 25th to watch how the Pride put this great show together and then a special performance.

The "Pride" of Port Charlotte Wind Orchestra Rates Superior at State AssessmentArticle taken from YourCharlotteSchools.net
"On Thursday, May 2, 2013 the "Pride" of Port Charlotte Wind Orchestra traveled to Broward College to perform for evaluation at the Florida Bandmasters Association State Concert Band Assessment Festival. As the premier performance organization at Port Charlotte High School, the Wind Orchestra had earned the opportunity to perform at State evaluation by receiving a Superior rating at the District Evaluation festival for the 25th consecutive year.
Before a panel of nationally known and acknowledged collegiate band directors, the wind orchestra performed an outstanding and demanding musical program and received a straight superior rating form the panel of clinicians. This helped them earn the prestigious Otto Kraushaar Award, which is the highest honor bestowed to a high school band program in the state of Florida. This award signifies a straight superior performance in all adjudicated events in the areas of Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band during the scholastic year. This marks the 14th time that the PCHS band program has earned this award and the 17th time that the program has earned an overall superior rating at the state music festival in the last 25 years."
