A letter from a former member,
Hello, fellow Port Charlotte High School Alumni! The time has come for all of us to give back. Whether you were in the band or not, you know you stood up a little taller when you heard those drums thumping out a cadence, the brass piercing through the night air with their crisp highs and chest rumbling lows, the woodwinds drawing you in with their beautiful melody and tickling you with trills. And, who can forget the ladies of the color guard who tied everything together!
We all enjoyed an experience that shaped us forever. The band trip is a quintessential high school memory whether it is New York for Macy’s, The Fiesta Bowl, London, Disney World, or simply up the road to St. Petersburg. As teenagers, we took these opportunities for granted. We thought they would exist for all generations to come. Unfortunately, without our help, that may not be true.
The Pride needs us! PCHS needs us! The goal of this effort is to get as many PCHS alumni involved as possible to build a sustainable source of financial support for the PCHS Band Program. Yes, giving money right now is great and just as important as getting involved in the fundraising effort. Remember, the goal is long term sustainability so that future generations may enjoy the opportunities we so fondly recall and many more.
Contact as many of your fellow classmates as you can and get them on board. Herly Rosemond and Alicia T. Lindo-Hodge (Class of ‘93) are organizing this endeavor. Please email Herly at hrosemon@aol.com or Alicia at a_lindo@yahoo.com for more information. Please encourage classmates to join this Facebook/MySpace group as well so that we may disseminate information effectively. Lastly, please complete the alumni or alumni parent/guardian information sheet on line or download the appropriate form and please return it using one of the prescribed methods on the information sheet. Rest assured, only the Campaign Committee will have access to your contact information and the Committee will not share it with the public or post it anywhere.
