New York Wind Band Festival Schedule
(please note this is a tentative schedule subject to change)
Day One: Friday, March 4, 2011 - Depart PC for New York:
Travel via deluxe motor coach throughout the
Day and evening. Food and rest stops
along the Route. All meals responsibility of members.
Day Two: Saturday, March 5, 2011 - Arrive in New York City:
Morning: Travel continues to New York City Breakfast and lunch responsibility of members.
Afternoon: Arrive in NYC. Check into hotel and relax. Group will have free time to explore Times Square and surrounding area.
Evening: Rest and relaxation while Director attends Orientation mtg. Dinner is responsibility of members. After an early dinner, travel to world renowned Avery Fisher Hall. home of the New York Philharmonic for evening conert featuring Symphone #4 by Gustav Mahler. Return to hotel.
Day Three: Sunday March 6, 2011 - New York City:
Morning: Rise and Shine! Breakfast is responsibility of members. After breakfast, either rehearsal time or a workshop with clinician will occur.
Afternoon: After lunch, group will travel to Ellis Island and tour museum and historical buildings followed by cruise in New York Harbor including ship viewing of the Statue of Libery.
Evening: Group convenes and departs for dinner and then Broudway play. Dinner and Musical included. After musical and time permitting, group will walk to Times Square and look at the lights! Return to hotel.
Day Four: Monday, March 7, 2011 - New York City:
Morning: Rise and Shine! Breakfast is respnsibility of members. After breakfast, W.O. will be transported to Central Park Bandshell for afternoon "Pops" style concert.
Afternoon: Bandshell "Pops" concert. After concert, W.O. will be given a motor coach tour of the city including stops. Lunch is responsibility of members.
Evening: All members will meet in the lobby and be transported to the Hudson Riverfront for an evening dinner, sightseeing and dancing cruise. Meal and cruise included. Return to Hotel.
Day Five: Tuesday, March 8, 2011 - New York City:
Morning: Rise and Shine! Breakfast responsibility of members. Ensemble will depart in Performance attire for Carnegie Hall and sound check. After sound check, instruments will be stored in warm-up room. lunch is responsibility of members.
Afternoon: The reason for the trip! PERFORMANCE IN ONE OF THE GREAT VENUES OF THE WORLD: CARNEGIE HALL!
Evening: After dinner, group will return to Carnegie Hall for the evening collegiate concert followed by the awards ceremony. Return to hotel, pack and prepare for departure next morning.
Day Six: Wednesday, March 9, 2011 - New York City:
Morning: Rise and Shine! Breakfast is responsibility of members. Check out of hotel. Do some last minute shopping along fifth avenue!
Afternoon: Lunch is responsibility of members. Meet charters and begin journey home to Port Charlotte.
Evening: Travel through evening. Dinner is responsibility of members.
Day Seven: Thursday, March 10, 2011 - Port Charlotte:
Morning: Stop for breakfast in route. Meal is responsibility of members.
Afternoon: Continue travel.
Evening: Arrive back at PCHS.
Day Eight: Friday, March 11, 2011
