Jose A. Lopez, Jr.Director of Bands
Mr. Jose A. Lopez, Jr. is currently in his 29th year as Director of Bands at Port Charlotte High School. Previous positions held during his 36 year career include Dougherty Senior High School in Albany, Georgia, and Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, Florida. Mr. Lopez is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelors of Music Education degree, and holds a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Mr. Lopez has had the honor of conducting numerous all-county and regional honor bands. As an adjudicator for the Florida Bandmasters Association, Mr. Lopez judges in the areas of Marching, Concert, Jazz and Solo and Ensemble. Mr. Lopez further serves the FBA as District Chairperson and a member of various committees. IN addition to the Florida Bandmasters Association, other professional affiliations include: The Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, and the International Association of Jazz Educators. Mr. Lopez is honored to be an elected member of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity.
Tom DubbertAthletic Band Director
Tom has been active in the marching band world as a performer and instructor for 10 years. He is an Alumnus of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps and The Ohio State University Athletic Bands. He has taught marching percussion at Port Charlotte High School, Westerville North High School (Columbus OH) and Bellevue High School (Bellevue, OH). He has also taught Indoor Percussion creating an independent group named Harborside Percussion and a feeder drumline at Murdock Middle School. He is a member of PASIC and a Vic Firth Educator and is a proud Alumnus of The Pride of Port Charlotte class of 2006. Tom currently working as the Family Resource Associate at Murdock Middle School.
